LUSHOOTSEED ADVANCED ORAL STUDY. THIS COURSE BEGINS WITH AN OVERVIEW OF THE SOUTHERN LUSHOOTSEED HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS AND AUDIO RECORDINGS. STUDENTS WILL LEARN ABOUT RESEARCHING LUSHOOTSEED LANGUAGE MATERIALS AND DETERMINE SPECIFIC RESOURCES TO STUDY. PREREQUISITE: ONE QUARTER OF SOUTHERN LUSHOOTSEED LANGUAGE (AIS 313, 314, OR 315 OR INSTRUCTOR PERMISSION).
Catalog Description:
Survey of native North American languages; introduction to systems of transcription; focus on reading of texts and analysis of grammatical structure in two languages; introduction to the use of microcomputers in the description and analysis of Native American texts. Prerequisite: either AIS 313, AIS 314, or AIS 315.
