THIS COURSE BEGINS WITH AN OVERVIEW
OF THE SOUTHERN LUSHOOTSEED
HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS AND AUDIO
RECORDINGS. STUDENTS WILL LEARN
ABOUT RESEARCHING LUSHOOTSEED
LANGUAGE MATERIALS AND DETERMINE
SPECIFIC RESOURCES TO STUDY.
PREREQUISITE: ONE QUARTER OF
SOUTHERN LUSHOOTSEED LANGUAGE (AIS
313, 314, OR 315 OR INSTRUCTOR
PERMISSION).
Catalog Description:
Survey of native North American languages; introduction to systems of transcription; focus on reading of texts and analysis of grammatical structure in two languages; introduction to the use of microcomputers in the description and analysis of Native American texts. Prerequisite: either AIS 313, AIS 314, or AIS 315.
