CLASS, WE'LL TAKE THE BURGEONING AN
EMERGING ACADEMIC FIELD OF
INDIGENOUS GEOGRAPHIES AS OUR
STARTING POINT FOR CONVERSATION.
THROUGH CLASS DISCUSSION,
GEOGRAPHICAL PLACE-BASED PROJECTS,
AND IN-CLASS WRITING ASSIGNMENTS WE
WILL THINK CRITICALLY ABOUT
COLONIZATION, ANTI-COLONIALISM, AND
COMMUNITY BASED RESEARCH THAT
CONSTITUTE THE FIELD OF INDIGENOUS
GEOGRAPHIES.
Catalog Description:
Views indigenous geographies through multiple lenses, disciplinary positions, community orientations, and historical relationships. Students think critically about colonization, anticolonialism, and the community-based research that constitutes the field, through class discussion, geographical place-based projects, and in-class writing assignments.
